Ice-Breaking: Finding Our Footing
🎙 Communication Expert Psychological safety · Group dynamics · AI comfort mapping

Purpose

Create a no-judgment space so every participant feels their questions are valid. Surface the diversity of AI experience in the room without embarrassment, and give the communication expert live data on individual dynamics to draw on later.

What Happens

  • AI Confessions — anonymous sticky notes; honest reactions read aloud, unattributed
  • AI Comfort Speedometer — physical 1–10 spectrum on the floor; each person places themselves and shares one sentence
  • Show of hands — who uses ChatGPT, Gemini, voice AI? Normalises existing usage
  • Communication expert observes and notes group dynamics for later segments

🎯 Participant Takeaway

  • Written and heard honest AI reactions — including fears — without anyone named
  • Visually see the range of comfort in the room; no one is alone at either extreme
  • At least 3 "I didn't know my colleague used that" moments — curiosity, not performance
9:45–11:0075 min

Knowledge & Framing: Building a Shared Mental Model
💡 Swapnil Dixit AI literacy · Lending examples · Trust exercise

Purpose

Establish a shared vocabulary for AI — what it is, what it isn't, and where it already operates in Nivara's world. Move from abstract to concrete using real Indian lending examples. Build the foundation for Segment 3's hands-on work.

What Happens

  • What AI is and isn't — 3 myths dispelled in plain language (5 min)
  • AI in Indian lending — 4 real HFC/fintech examples: alternate data, GST proxies, collections prediction, document verification (15 min)
  • Anatomy of an AI recommendation — one credit case: data in, output out, why human still decides (20 min)
  • Would you trust this output? — pairs rate 3 AI outputs; build shared checklist (25 min)
  • Open Q&A — invites the questions people were embarrassed to ask (10 min)

🎯 Participant Takeaway

  • Can explain in one sentence what AI does and doesn't do — in plain language
  • Has seen at least 2 real AI-in-lending examples relevant to Nivara's informal-sector mission
  • A shared "AI Trustworthiness Checklist" on the whiteboard — co-authored by the group
11:00–11:10
☕ Break — 10 minutes
Non-negotiable. Cognitive load is high by this point.

Hands-On: Function Mapping & AI Briefs
💡 Swapnil Dixit 👁 Comm. Expert observing Workflow canvas · Live demo · AI brief writing

Purpose

Move from vocabulary to action. Each participant identifies 1–2 workflows in their function that are genuinely AI-ready, pressure-tests them with peers, and produces a one-paragraph brief they can hand to Nivara's tech team.

What Happens

  • What makes a workflow AI-ready? — 4-part test: judgment-light, repetitive, data-rich, clear I/O (10 min)
  • Individual workflow mapping — personal 3-column canvas (15 min)
  • Peer pressure-test — groups of 2–3 stress-test each other's candidates (20 min)
  • Live AI demo — Swapnil runs a real tool on one identified workflow (15 min)
  • Write your AI brief — Workflow / AI's job / Human's job / Success metric (15 min)
  • Share-out — 2–3 volunteers read briefs; structured group feedback (15 min)

🎯 Participant Takeaway

  • Completed workflow canvas with at least one verified AI-ready process
  • A written, one-paragraph AI brief — ready to hand to the tech team
  • Has seen AI working live and can explain where human judgment stays essential
12:40–13:4060 min

Risk, Regulation & Strategy
💡 Swapnil Dixit NHB compliance · Vendor questions · Build/Buy/Wait/Never · AI Principles

Purpose

Ground the group's AI enthusiasm in Nivara's regulatory and ethical reality. Convert individual workflow learning into a collective strategic position. Ensure every leader leaves knowing what questions to ask vendors and what guardrails Nivara needs.

What Happens

  • Where AI can go wrong — bias in credit, NHB explainability, data privacy, vendor lock-in (15 min)
  • 5 questions to ask any vendor — group builds the list together on the whiteboard (15 min)
  • Build / Buy / Wait / Never — 2×2 strategy framework; each AI brief is placed and debated (20 min)
  • Nivara's AI Principles — group co-authors 3–5 non-negotiable principles (10 min)

🎯 Participant Takeaway

  • Can name at least 2 specific AI risk categories relevant to an NHB-regulated HFC
  • A group-owned 5-question vendor checklist they will actually use in meetings
  • First draft of "Nivara's AI Principles for the Next 18 Months" — co-authored and photographed
13:40–13:5515 min
5
Wrap-Up & Commitments
🎙 Both Facilitators 30-day commitments · Next steps · Ownership

Purpose

Convert the day's learning into personal commitments and clear organisational next steps. Close the psychological safety loop. Ensure every participant leaves with a specific action, not just inspiration.

What Happens

  • One thing I will do differently — round the room; each person states ONE concrete, time-bound 30-day action (10 min)
  • Energy capture — communication expert names the arc of the room honestly (2 min)
  • Next steps — AI briefs to tech team, principles draft, vendor checklist — owners and dates set (3 min)

🎯 Participant Takeaway

  • Every participant has stated one specific, time-bound action for the next 30 days
  • Clear owners and dates for all post-workshop deliverables
  • Leaves knowing what was achieved together — not just what was learned individually

Swapnil is CPO at Avanti Finance, where he is currently building AI-first credit underwriting workflows, deploying AI to plug collection leakages, and applying Pareto-first AI prioritisation across operations. He was the first PM for Avanti's digital-first, paperless, presenceless financial inclusion platform — promoted by Ratan Tata — growing assets from ₹0 to ₹17 billion and serving 2.5 million users across India's informal economy.

Before Avanti, Swapnil led the API ecosystem and alliances at Ola Cabs, contributing 4% trip share from travel and hospitality partners via a self-serve API sandbox. He also worked at Genentech (USA) and Numerify (Sequoia & Lightspeed-backed, Cupertino). He is a founding member and former CEO of Jagriti Yatra — India's largest youth entrepreneurship program — a 10,000 km train journey reaching 50 million people and spawning 2,000 startups.

His direct experience building AI for India's informal lending sector — the exact segment Nivara serves — is the reason he is facilitating this workshop.

Bonus Fatherly Advice 😊

Swapnil is also a father who writes. Here's a small selection of his reflections — on life, on parenting, on the things that matter beyond the boardroom.

Be curious. Ask why. Ask why again. The person who keeps asking why is never the least important person in the room.
Don't confuse being busy with being productive. Some of the most important things I ever did looked like nothing from the outside.
Failure is just feedback wearing an ugly coat. The sooner you learn to take it off and look at what's underneath, the faster you'll grow.
Build things that outlast the project. The habit of craft — of caring about the thing you're making — travels with you forever.
The world will reward you for being impressive. It will love you for being honest. Choose love.
When you don't know what to do next, help someone. It resets everything — your mood, your perspective, and often your own problem too.
